The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia will be the 21st edition of the World Cup. This edition of the event will be held in Russia between June 14 and July 15, 2018, being the first time that country organizes the championship.
Russia has confirmed 12 stadiums in 11 cities: Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Kazan, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, St. Petersburg, Samara, Sochi, Volgograd and Saransk, which will host all 64 World Cup games.
Of the 12 stadiums chosen, only 2 were completely finished at the time of the election, although they had to be remodeled to play football games there. Another, the Spartak in Moscow, opened in August 2014. The others, including the Luzhiniki in that same capital with capacity for more than 81,000 spectators (headquarters and the largest stadium), began to build in later years.
